Meeting Donnie

by Drew

It’s very rare that you get to meet someone as special as Donnie. His abilities to help with issues in teen’s lives have brought a lot of them to ease, including myself. It was back in early June, 2006, that I discovered Donnie on TeenHelp.org, a popular online forum database that has over 30,000 members.

Upon joining TeenHelp in late 2005, I met a lot of interesting people my age who were having similar issues. The system is designed for teens to help other teens, and there are staff members such as Donnie, a TeenHelp mentor, who can help you through most anything.

I did some research on Donnie, as I do most people that I meet, and found that he also was associated with a site called Teenoutreach.com in years past. Just by reading through some of the articles he has written, and visiting his website, it was clear he knew what he was talking about. I was amazed at the amount of time he has put into helping teenagers.

It wasn’t until just recently that I met Donnie after countless MSN conversations and e-mails back and forth for a period of about 5 months. I met him at his office, and then we sped away in his Mustang convertible off to his house in Paducah. There I met his wife, Marcia, and a few others who happened to be at his home. The great thing about hanging out with Donnie is that there never is a dull moment. There seems to be people coming in and out of his house all the time, it’s really fun to be a part of. Donnie has a great personality, and is always up for a conversation.

If there’s something you need to talk about, he always listens to your problem and comes up with a useful answer.

Overall, Donnie is a great guy to be around. Meeting him for the first time was a great experience. Since I’m in his area often, this won’t be the only meeting. In fact, I’m sure it’s the start of many to come.
